A staged production of Handel’s oratorio.

Never wanting to turn the piece into something it isn’t, the production became a meditation on birth, work, death and renewal.

An exciting risk for Casa Da Musica to stage this sacred piece resulted in a production which combined intimately sung and epically and sensitively staged scenes reflecting on the journey from birth to death.

Yellow and golden lit for the joyful opening of Part 1, blurring into deep crimsons for the terror and pain of Part 2 and finally incandescent white for the redemption of Part 3, the chorus and soloists moved amongst the instrumentalists, creating a community of musicians bringing to life this monumental piece.
